Patient assistance has become a crucial resource for many Texans:
  • A total of 25% of Texas' population is without health insurance – the highest in the nation1
  • Texas has a rapidly growing population that is increasingly at risk for hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer2
In 2007, Pfizer Helpful Answers helped 166,501 Texas residents obtain more than 1 million Pfizer prescriptions for free or at a savings.

Over the last 2 years, Pfizer has hosted training events in Houston, Dallas, El Paso, and San Antonio attended by more than 300 representatives of local ethnic minority groups, faith-based institutions, government agencies, groups serving women and children, and many others. These events educate attendees about assistance programs for uninsured patients, teach professionals and lay people how to enroll others in these important programs, and provide resources that participants can take back to their communities.
Many minority residents are uninsured, so in Texas, we have programs designed to target the groups that need the most help.
One organization with which Pfizer works closely is the Dallas Concilio, whose mission is to advocate and enhance the quality of life for Hispanics in the greater Dallas area through community partnerships.

Pfizer Helpful Answers works to raise awareness among local African American groups and service agencies in Texas about programs to help uninsured patients.
